The relationship we have towards ourselves is the most precious relationship we can have. Learning to love yourself so profoundly that the world can fall apart around you, while you stay standing tall in your self-love - even if it’s incredibly tender and vulnerable sometimes - is an endeavor worth fighting for.

For the one who dares to look within, there are multitudes of treasures to be found. But the path of going within and facing ourselves isn’t always easy. It is a Hero’s Journey. Of leaving the familiar behind, and venturing into the darkness, the Unknown.

We might find things we were not looking for. Pain. Grief. Rage. Sadness. Numbness. Trauma. Fear. We might realise things about ourselves we wish we could unsee. A lack of boundaries. A manipulative side we weren’t aware of before. Self-criticism. Self-hatred. Superiority. Entitlement. Perhaps we suddenly see how we have been using people all along to fulfill our own personal needs.

We will also discover other things: We might realise we actually really like and love ourselves. We might uncover a deep desire to step into leadership. A longing to dance - or perhaps a lost dream from years ago. There is not only pain and heaviness in the depths - there is also Light.

No matter what we find down in the depths, our job is to face it with curiosity, presence, and loving kindness. This isn’t always easy, but it is worth building this capacity. The more parts we can uncover and face with love, the more whole we become.
